9 x 5 Art Prize

This year The Valley Art Show will follow the tradition of the first 9×5 or “Cigar Box” art exhibition held in Melbourne in 1889 by the up and coming young Australian artists of the day Tom Roberts, Charles Conder and Arthur Streeton.

This exhibition, named the 9×5 Art Prize will, apart from offering the paintings for sale at attractive prices, be a competition with $1000 for 1st, $600 for 2nd and $400 for 3rd place, all made possible by the generous sponsorship of:

Wyong Community Branch – Bendigo Bank

Capital One – Lifestyle Properties

As a cost incentive to artists, specially designed 9″x 5″ art boards, that are rear framed to prevent warping and be easily hung for display, will be supplied as part of the $25 entry fee with no other framing allowed at the time of the exhibition.  Note that a second entry will cost just $15 and only boards supplied by the organisers are accepted in this competition.

The 9×5 Art Prize exhibition will be held over two venues, firstly at the Wyong Creek Hall from Friday 6th to Sunday 9th September and then on Sunday the 15th September at the Yarramalong Valley Spring Show in the Yarramalong Village.

Artists wishing to enter this unique competition should allow sufficient time to collect or receive by post their art boards from the organisers, Wyong Creek Hall, and be able to return their finished art to us for display and judging before Thursday 5th September.
